Chinese Drywall in Kansas? December 14, 2009
A lot has been made of the many Chinese drywall claims in southern states, such as Florida and Louisiana, as well as others on the Eastern coast including Virginia. Even though Kansas has not been getting a lot of attention in this area, health officials in the state are concerned that this could turn into a problem in the near future.
At this time, officials in the state are looking into whether or not they should be as concerned as many other parts of the country. At this time, Chinese drywall cases have been reported in at least 32 states with Florida being hit the hardest.
Kristi Pankratz of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment said, “To date Kansas has not received any inquiries, complaints or reports concerning the Chinese drywall product. However we want to get the information out to the public so if there are any Kansas homeowners who believe they have problems they should report it to KDHE’s Bureau of Environmental Health.”
For now, it appears that residents in the state of Kansas are safe. But any who feel that they may be living in a home with Chinese drywall should contact the proper authorities at once.
