Fort Myers Chinese Drywall October 6, 2009

Many homes in Bell Tower’s Park in South Fort Myers, Florida were built with Chinese drywall. The developer believed that they were going to be able to fix this problem through the use of chlorine dioxide gas. Unfortunately, at the last hour the plan was nixed because they were not able to obtain a warranty for the work.

There are 26 homes in the popular community that are affected by Chinese drywall. The first problems began to surface in late 2008, and over the past few months more and more cases have come about.

Sabre Technical Services, based in New York, claim that the gas can help eradicate the problems associated with Chinese drywall. While this is all well and good, the developer of the community could not reach an agreement on a warranty. In other words, they wanted to know for sure that the work of Sabre Technical Services would stand up over the long haul.

The only other option is to tear out the bad Chinese drywall and replace it. As you can imagine, this is a costly endeavor – especially considering that 26 homes are affected.

In the future it will be interesting to see if Sabre reaches agreements with any other home developers that are interested in their technology.
