If you are a homeowner or builder who has been affected by imported drywall from China you are mostly likely already familiar with the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Drywall Information Center. If however you are not, and are interested in monitoring the progress of the CPSC, check out there website at least once a month for new investigative results and updates.
In a pre-trial hearing in New Orleans, United States District Judge Eldon Fallon ruled against Chinese drywall manufacturer, Taishan Gypsum Co. Ltd., because the company failed to respond to a suit filed by an Alabama homebuilder.
Those following the perplexities of the suspected Chinese drywall woes in the United States can now add Alabama to the growing list of states with residents reporting suspected Chinese drywall to authorities. Homes constructed in Birmingham Alabama, imported between 2005 and 2008, with primary use in 2006 during the post-hurricane boom, are the years in question. Most recently, homeowners in Alabama have been complaining about Chinese drywall problems. The largest number of cases are coming from those in the cities of Birmingham and Mobile.
