Consumers who own or reside in a home containing defective Chinese drywall should contact only experienced attorneys that possess skill and competence in dealing with international matters. Knowledge of how to deal with Chinese defendants, as well as the international context of litigation is a key facet of adequate representation.
Since the start of the drywall problems, suppliers of drywall in the United States have seemingly shifted sources. Perhaps dealing with China is seen as too risky of an endeavor with regard to importing building supplies. The Chronicle Herald reported on the international implications of this economic shift; “Nova Scotia supplies 65 per cent of the gypsum used in the United States, so any increase in sales there will likely have at least some impact here,” said Pat Mills, a manager at the National Gypsum (Canada) Ltd. mine.
